When comes pleasure
Listen to a vinyl, read a paper book, look through a magazine, light a candle, make a tea kettle whistle. Have you noticed how these objects become the center of rituals? And how they allow us relaxation and pleasure.
How so? Well, I don’t know, I am no scientist! But what’s easy to observe is that humans need to touch, handle, manipulate, palpate, rub, caress, feel, osculate! That’s how babies learn from Day 1, even before, in the womb. And this sense actually helps developing all of the other senses!
Ceramic and senses
This is where handcrafted ceramics kicks in. They have the power to intensify pleasure. A simple omelet placed in a nice ceramic plate with a few condiments on top become a delight for the view. Noodles from a plastic bowl will never procure the same pleasure than if placed in a handmade ceramic bowl. Our hands are delicately warmed by the ceramic bowl, while burnt by the plastic one.
There’s actually no need to own a hundred pottery items, just a couple of handcrafted bowls, plates or mugs can help us create new rituals, new source of relaxation and pleasure
